Air Force Academy Falcons Football

The Air Force Falcons football program has a long and storied history. The team began play in 1956 and has since won three conference championships (1956, 1960, and 1998) and two bowl games (1985 Liberty Bowl and 2004 Emerald Bowl). The Falcons are known for their high-powered rushing attack, which is based on the triple-option offense. Air Force has ranked among the top 10 teams in rushing in the nation 19 times in the past 21 years. The Falcons have also had a number of successful players in their history. Some of the most notable include: Harry "The Horse" Smith: Harry Smith was a three-time All-American running back who led the Falcons to their first conference championship in 1956. Joe Pisarcik was a two-time All-American quarterback who led the Falcons to their second conference championship in 1960. He also played in the NFL for the New York Giants and was the quarterback who threw the "Miracle at the Meadowlands" pass in 1973. Matt Miller was a two-time All-American quarterback who led the Falcons to their third conference championship in 1998. He also played in the NFL for the San Francisco 49ers and the Denver Broncos. Chad Hall was a two-time All-American running back who led the Falcons to their second bowl game victory in 2004. He also played in the NFL for the Philadelphia Eagles and the San Francisco 49ers. The Air Force Falcons football program has a rich history of success. The team has won three conference championships two bowl games, and has had a number of successful players.
